Tembo Guesthouse
TEMBO Guesthouse is located on the Arusha – Nairobi Road, about 90 km north of Arusha and 30 km from the Tanzania – Kenya border. Situated in the village of Longido, the guesthouse sits at the foot of the beautiful Mt. Longido in the heart of the Maasai land and is built to resemble the Maasai bomas in the tranquil countryside.
TEMBO Guesthouse is owned and operated by TEMBO Trust (Tanzania Education and Micro-Business Opportunity), a registered Tanzanian NGO founded by Project TEMBO, Canada, in 2007. The main goals of TEMBO Trust are to provide education to girls and micro-finance loans to women in Longido and Kimokouwa villages.
TEMBO Guesthouse was officially opened by the Regional Commissioner of Arusha on 30 January 2009. The guesthouse provides employment for 12 Tanzanians, who make up TEMBO staff. They are knowledgeable in the Maasai culture and customs and trained to provide excellent service.

You will be warmly welcomed by Faraja, Guesthouse Manager, and you will enjoy delicious meals prepared by Head Chef, Nusra, and Sous Chef, Carolyne. Vegetables from the garden grown by TEMBO’s conservation-minded gardener, Fortunatus, are used for meals.
The excellent Housekeeping staff of Rosie and Ashura will be sure your room is clean and supplied with towels, soap, and slippers. The guesthouse is guarded 24 hours a day by friendly Maasai watchmen, Sonjoy, Oyaya, and Nyangusi.
